2018 Monroe Blues Series Celebrating 31 Years

(Monroe County, MI) – The 2018 lineup takes listeners on another whirlwind journey across the blues and roots landscape, from the deep, soulful blues of living legends like Primer and Bob Margolin to the genre-blending (and busting) work of next generation artists like Luke Wilson-King, Jontavious Willis and Hubby Jenkins.

All events in the series are free and open to the public and begin at 7 pm.

Events include:

  • John Primer & The Real Deal Blues Band – Feb 6 at Ellis Library & Reference Center, 3700 S. Custer Rd. Monroe, MI
  • Luke Wilson-King, Feb. 13 at Dorsch Memorial Branch Library, 18 E. First St., Monroe, MI.
  • Bob Margolin featuring special guest Peter Madcat Ruth, Feb. 20 at Carleton Branch Library, 1444 Kent St., Carleton, MI.
  • Jontavious Willis, Feb. 22, Ida Branch Library, 3016 Lewis Ave., Ida, MI.
  • Hubby Jenkins, Feb. 27, Bedford Branch Library, 8575 Jackman Rd., Temperance, MI.

The Big Gig! stars three-time Grammy-nominee soul / blues / folk / gospel / rock singer / songwriter Ruthie Foster, firebrand blues rocker Anthony Gomes, and (returning for his 31st year) Rev. Robert B. Jones, Sr. More about this next week.
