(ROSARITO BEACH, B.C., MX) – Over the last 6 years, the Baja Blues Fest has quietly been building into a major musical event, attracting thousands of blues enthusiasts to Baja California for a weekend of sun, fun and great music. The upcoming 7th Annual Baja Blues Fest looks to be no exception – the lineup features Grammy Award winning Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band as the headliner, along with accomplished musicians Anthony Gomes, Gregg Wright, Backwater Blues Band, the Bayou Brothers featuring Michele Lundeen, Hola soy Lola Blues Band with surprise guests and Mexicali’s, Palaco Blues Band. The buzz around this festival has been increasing every year – more than 4,000 people are expected to attend this year’s event on August 17-19, 2018. The Baja Blues Fest is held at the world famous Rosarito Beach Hotel in Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico and is a joyful mix of blues music and fundraising to help kids with “the Blues.” Advance tickets are available here. All proceeds benefit local children’s charities.

The Baja Blues Fest Organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to Helping Kids with “The Blues.” They organize and promote events related to music, arts and culture, in an effort to increase public awareness of local children’s charities in Baja California, Mexico. They are an all-volunteer organization dependent entirely upon sponsorships, in-kind donations and selling advertising opportunities to meet operational needs.

Educating children is costly, especially in Mexico. After grade 6 the entire cost of schooling falls to the family, who in many cases have limited income. Without help, many children are forced to end their education at that point. To break the poverty cycle, it is critical to provide further education. Your participation will help to do just that. With generous supporters, the Baja Blues Fest Organization has distributed more than $78,000 over the past 6 years to improve the lives of children in the Rosarito area.

The Rosarito Beach Hotel graciously donates the venue for the event that is held over 3 days. The festival kicks off on Friday night with an intimate Meet-n-Greet in the Adobe Lounge from 7pm to 11pm; the Saturday all-day event outside in the lush north garden and finishes with the Sunday Jam Session from 1pm to 4pm in the garden area on the south side of the pier.  This popular Jam Session is open to local musicians and all the band members who stay to enjoy an afternoon at the beach.

Three-day all event tickets, in advance only, are $55 for adults and $10 for children ages 5 to 10. Adult one-day Saturday tickets are $30 in advance & $35 at the gate. The Sunday jam tickets are $15.  Friday nights (if available) are $25. For additional details and tickets to the Fest, please visit the website. Tickets also can be purchased in Puerto Nuevo at Baja’s Click-on KM 44 on the Free Rd.

A drawing for a “Strung Junk” guitar by local craftsman Steve Kinney also will be held. Several local promotions to see and play the guitar will be posted on our Facebook page.
