(Winter Park, CO) – Blues From The Top, presented by the Grand County Blues Society, is celebrating 15 years of blues in the Rocky Mountains on June 24 & 25, 2017. This year is lovingly dedicated to festival founder John Catt, who passed May 15, 2017.
This will be the first festival to premier on the new, permanent stage at the Hideaway Park Amphitheater in downtown Winter Park. The 2017 roster includes The Fabulous Thunderbirds featuring Kim Wilson; Anders Osborne “the poet laureate of Louisiana’s fertile roots music scene,” Carolyn Wonderland, C.J. Chenier & the Red Hot Louisiana Band, Alvin Youngblood Hart; Jimmy Vivino and The Kate Moss 3, Little Hurricane, Dustin Young and more. Goers will also experience the awe-inspiring Future of The Blues with some of the nation’s most talented young music artists. Festival hours are 11am – 7pm both days. Gates at 10am.
During the day, festival-goers will enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Continental Divide, while dancing to great music, enjoying array of tasty food vendors and shopping at the creative retailers at the venue.
Once the sun goes down, the music doesn’t stop. There are night shows featuring festival artists at Smokin’ Moe’s Ribhouse & Saloon in Cooper Creek Square at 9pm on Friday, 6/23 (Category 5 Night) and Saturday 6/24. Plus Music On The Square featuring Future of the Blues All-Stars (6/23), and Blues From The Top 15 After Party at Winter Park Pub (6/25).
Tickets are available here. For those who want to treat themselves, upgrade to the new V.I.P Experience which will be located in the “Back Plaza” of the new stage with food, alcohol and private bathrooms. A V.I.P. area will extend from the front of stage angled up the soft grassy knoll.
Winter Park Mayor Jimmy Lahrman and the town’s council issued an official proclamation recognizing Catt’s many contributions to Grand County and declaring “John Catt Day” to be June 24.
