Memphis Music and Heritage FestivalMEMPHIS, TN – This 2015 Labor Day weekend, Sept 5-6, the 29th Center for Southern Folklore’s Memphis Music and Heritage Festival will be held in downtown Memphis on Main Street at Peabody Place from 11am-11pm.Musicians, artists, dancers, talkers and cook will dedicate the event to the Center’s friend, the late B.B. King. Each Labor Day Weekend the Center produces the Memphis Music & Heritage Festival, their signature event. With urban Memphis as their backdrop, they showcase and celebrate the music, culture, arts, and rhythms of the Memphis/Delta region.

The musical lineup will feature a diverse mix of artists in blues (Bobby Rush, Daddy Mack, Blues Band, Joyce Cobb, Elmo & the Shades), plus rockabilly, R&B, hip-hop and neo soul, gospel, country and roots, Latin, and reggae among other genres.

New this year, you can sample specialties from a variety of Memphis restaurants. See Robert Gordon’s early 16mm documentary, All Day and All Night about the history of Beale Street and B.B. King’s role in it. There will also be a kid’s area. Family, friendly fun!
