(CLARKSDALE, MS) – Delta Blues Museum has been awarded a $26,100 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC) for general operating support. This grant is a portion of the nearly $1.4 million in grants the Commission will award in 2018-2019 and are made possible by continued funding from the Mississippi State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.

“The Mississippi Arts Commission supports arts activities in nearly every corner of the state through grants to arts organizations, schools, communities and units of governments,” said Malcom White, executive director of MAC. “The projects and programming these organizations produce with MAC funds help enrich our state’s communities. This funding helps organizations provide arts experiences and educational opportunities to people who may not otherwise have access to the arts.

“Funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission is crucial to Delta Blues Museum operations,” offers Museum Director Shelley Ritter. “MAC support allows us to continue our Arts & Education Program, our high school docent program and our traveling exhibits. These three components play a vital role in preserving and sharing the blues within our community as well as with a worldwide audience.”
