Since 2012 Minneapolis-based Sweet Tea has been a hard working four-piece band of some of the Twin Cities’ premier professional musicians including Mark Lamoine on guitar and vocals, Mick Zampogna on keys and accordion, bassist Michael Carvale and drummer Nick Zwack. With the addition of vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and front-woman Joyann Parker, the group made an official change in name and direction. In August 2015 Joyann Parker & Sweet Tea headed into the studio at Home Bass Audio with audio engineer JR Hartley to record their debut album, On The Rocks.
Emerging with a dynamic album of 11 tracks of all original music written and arranged by Joyann Parker and Mark Lamoine, each number highlights the sassy, sexy and power soaked vocals of Joyann Parker and the skills of this veteran ensemble, who deliver house-rockin’ blues, funk, and soul.
Radio-ready tunes include revved up boogie “What Happened To Me,” the soul searching ballad “Jigsaw Heart,” and straight ahead mover “Hit Me Like A Train.” Joyann Parker is poised to burst onto the scene as she draws instant comparisons to Etta James, Ann Wilson and Shemekia Copeland.
