It Won’t Stop Raining (Vision Wall Records) features three-time Grammy Nominee Shaun Murphy.
Her 7th CD and is produced by TC Davis and recorded at Colemine Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, along with Randy Coleman as engineer and mixer. It Won’t Stop Raining is a collection of some of her good friends and band mates writing contributions and a few classics thrown in for good measure. Her touring band recorded all tracks on this CD, and makes it as close to a live sound as it can get, without actually being a live record. Tom DelRossi on drums, John Marcus (22 years with Tim McGraw) Kenne Cramer (Dr. Hook) and Shaun Starski (Jason Ricci, Otis Taylor) on guitar, Larry Van Loon and (Andy T & Nick Nixon) John Wallum on keys.
As the only female lead singer in history of Little Feat for 15 years, and tours with Eric Clapton, Bob Seger and many others, she’s been staking her claim and continues to release great blues discs.
This 11 track disc is purely a blues lovers dream. Song after song is what makes this a true blues record, through and through.
Her influences started with Big Mama Thornton, and went on to Koko Taylor, Etta James, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Dorothy Norwood, and Big Maybelle, to name few, caught in the ‘give it all or go home’ frame of mind, her live performances rival a hurricane of energy and emotion. You can almost taste the fire she puts forth, her ‘taking no prisoners’ live performances are not to be missed.
This CD is filled with great shuffles and a couple of heart wrenching, tear-jerkers that we all love, just to round out the up and down roller coaster she loves to take you through.
Shaun’s fan base continues to grow rapidly, and there’s no telling what the future will bring for this incredible talented woman! I can imagine that, at this rate, the sky’s the limit.
