Mary Lane is way over due for what she planned to do. She came to Chicago from Arkansas following her mentor
Howlin Wolf. She honed her blues vocals at her uncle’s club, The White Swan while singing with Wolf and
Robert Nighthawk. Came to Chicago in her early 20s and began singing with Elmore James, Junior Wells and
Buddy Guy. “Mary Lane is the last of the blues singers who came up from the south to Chicago. She is the real deal,”
said Buddy Guy.
