(Buffalo, NY) – Tas Cru believes there is nothing more important for a blues performer today than sharing one’s love for the great American treasure that is the blues with the next generation! Recently the Blues Society of Western New York hosted his visit to Buffalo’s Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts for two days of workshops and performances with over 100 students participating. Students, already skilled and talented musicians, created horn and vocal arrangements for blues classics by Albert Collins, Jimmy Reed and Etta James as well some Tas Cru tunes. They then performed them and brought down the house! Sometimes school is really, really cool!
“These kids are phenomenal,” says Tas, “they live and breathe music and know and love their blues – supported and encouraged by great teachers who want to help their kids be able to become musicians rather than just learn how to play music. Why wasn’t my high school this cool?! Thank you Blues Society of Western New York for furthering my faith that the blues is alive and will be for years to come.”
