- August E-Bay Raise The Roof Item:
Foghat's Last Train Home - Number 322 of 1000
Autographed by Roger Earl, Charlie Huhn and Bryan Bassett

Foghat's Last Train Home was originally released in 2010. This item is a special, limited-edition vinyl version. With Last Train Home, Foghat produced an outstanding package. The double-album was limited to just 1,000 copies; each copy is hand-numbered. It comes in a beautiful gatefold sleeve, and the vinyl itself is a stunning shade of blue.

Blue is a natural choice for the set, as this is a collection of blues songs, which has always been a part of Foghat's music. What they did with those older songs was to put a seventies rock spin on them, which FM radio ate up.

The group that recorded Last Train Home consisted of Roger Earl (drums), Charlie Huhn (vocals, lead guitar), Bryan Bassett (lead and slide guitar), Jeff Howell (bass), Colin Earl (keyboards), Lefty Lefkowitz (harmonica), and special guest Eddie "Bluesman" Kirkland - who played guitar and sang on "Good Good Day," and "In My Dreams," (both of which he wrote as well). Sadly, between the time of the CD release, and this LP - Eddie was killed in an auto accident, and he too receives a special memorial dedication on the back cover.

Last Train Home is a tribute to the blues masters who inspired Foghat. The songs they chose, to the memorials to lost members, and the performances themselves - this is a recording they really cared about.  Click HERE to bid!

- Raising the Roof!
Some performers with current releases out have donated to Raise the Roof! to build the Blues Hall of Fame. This is not surprising perhaps since blues musicians may be the biggest blues fans of them all. Who more than them would like to see their musical heroes honored? And who more than them would want to see the blues hall of fame museum open to educate thousands for years to come.

When we received current releases from Jim Allchin--Q.E.D.--and Paul Allen-- Everywhere at Once--friends and donors, it made me think to see which other donors have a 2013 release. I immediately thought of Andy T Nick Nixon Band--Drink, Drank, Drunk and then headed to the shelves to check for more. I found:

Out of My Mind - Cassie Taylor, My World is Gone - Otis Taylor, Tempered Steel - Spencer Bohren, There's a Time - Doug MacLeod, Play by the Rules - J.T. Lauritsen & Friends, Singing in My Soul - Lisa Biales, Badlands - Trampled Under Foot, Gone to Texas - Mike Zito, Turquoise - Devon Allman, This Time Another Year - Brandon Santini, Moving - Little G. Weevil, Tough Times Don't Last - Grady Champion, Blue Heart - Too Slim and the Taildraggers, Independently Blue - Duke Robillard Band, Can You Stand the Heat - Ana Popovic, Solo Live from the Meisenfrei Blues Club - Kirsten Thien and the DVD Time Brings About a Change...A Floyd Dixon Celebration on HighJohn Records.

I may have missed one or two more. Thanks to each of these blues loving blues performers for thinking about the past and the future of this music.

Blues Music Awards programs wanted
PLEASE send us a copy of the 8th and 30th Blues Music Awards program (if you have an extra or just do not need anymore). We are looking forward to the 35th Blues Music Awards and we cannot find even one copy of these programs! Joe, Cindi and Priscilla know exactly what happened to the copies that use to be here. They were victims of my "get it out of here" mentality. I admit I am a known "thrower." You will never find me on one of the cable hoarder shows.

- Blues Hall of Fame Artifact & Photo Call
THANKS to members who responded to my call last month to help us with artifacts and photos for the Blues Hall of Fame. In the past month, we have been offered unique items for Memphis Minnie, Big Walter Horton, Charles Brown and Ruth Brown, among others.

Did You Know?
Some of our favorites have been showing up on Billboard's Heatseekers Album ™ charts. The chart contains 50 positions ranked by Nielsen SoundScan sales data, and charts album titles from "new or developing acts", which is determined by the act's historical chart performance. Once an artist has had an album place in the top 100 of the Billboard Top 200, or in the top ten of any genre, the album and later works no longer qualify for tracking on Heatseeker Albums. In recent months, the following releases have been Heatseekers:

Bang Bang Boom Boom - Beth Hart (Provogue), Blue Heart - Too Slim and the Taildraggers (Underworld Record)
Can You Stand the Heat - Ana Popovic (ArtistXclusive), Badlands - Trampled Under Feet (Telarc)
