the blues in Europe. The EBHF will be featured on a dedicated
EBU webpage to start, with the future aim to organize a live
ceremony and to develop a decentralized system in which
each country has its own Blues Hall of Fame. These will be
integrated into various local venues and clubs, evolving into
a “European Blues Route.” The goal is not only to disseminate
the culture and history of the blues more widely among
enthusiasts, but also to generate more interest and education
among those who are not yet familiar with this emblematic
musical genre. Furthermore, this initiative will certainly
encourage collaboration between cultural professionals
and institutions across Europe. In this first year, the EBU has
inducted the Cahors Blues Festival (France), Horst Lippmann
and Fritz Rau (Germany), Jefferson Magazine (Sweden) and
John Mayall (United Kingdom).
The EBU’s initiatives create a strong blues network amongst
its member countries. The board and members of the EBU are
passionate about improving the connection and collaboration
between blues lovers all across Europe; unifying locales into
a greater, richer blues scene. Thanks to the EBU, the blues is
thriving in Europe.
