King’s Lasting Impact
Executive Director Malika Polk-Lee states, “We are
honored to be stewards of the celebration of 100 years of
Mr. King and sharing it with the public. Even after 100 years
of his life and work, he is still relevant. He had a profound
impact, and his works and story are still revered. Fans from
around the world come through our doors at the Museum to
pay their respects and to be immersed in the story of his life
and his music.”
“New blues artists still consider Mr. King as their mentor and
major influence, even now that he has passed. This is testament
to his God-given talent and musical genius… it lives on. My staff
and I at the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center are
offering events throughout the year to mark the significance of
Mr. King and his influence on American music and history. We
are making sure that Mr. King’s family is involved and giving us
their input and blessing.”
These centennial celebrations invite fans old and new
to keep the legacy of B.B. King’s spirit and blues tradition
alive. For more events popping up throughout the year, visit
