(MARSEILLE, FR) – The distinctness of European Blues Cruise is the meeting between tourism and blues. They cover destinations all around the Mediterranean basin rocked by melodies of its own. From Sept 30-Oct 4, sail from Marseille, France, to Ibiza (a Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea off the eastern coast of Spain), Barcelona, Spain, and Genoa, Italy and back to Marseille. The cruise features: grand opening night, Blues concerts on board all week, and private sessions.
Artists include Grammy winner Sugar Blue who was nicknamed Jimi Hendrix of the harmonica: he’s played and recorded with Prince, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Willie Dixon, and Stan Getz, just to name a few. Before becoming a bandleader, guitarist and accordion player Major Handy worked with Rockin ‘Dopsie for 12 years and also Buckwheat Zydeco. A multi-instrumentalist, he has boundless energy and talent, and his music is fun and full of surprises.
The award-winning Jackie Scott is a singer, songwriter and producer from Virginia. Music played an important role in worship and after 20 years of singing gospel, she felt a call to the Chicago-style blues.
The cruise is organized by the association Blues in Marseille which aims to promote the blues in the city through various concerts. Through this festival of blues at sea, they highlight the city of Marseille, its tourist attractions and its cruise port.
Their event is organized thanks to partnerships with the travel agency Marseillaise Voyages Byblos and various cruise lines.
