Shaun Murphy

She began her career in 1969 playing at the Ann Arbor Blues Festival, went on to theater, being discovered by an employee of Motown Records. She later signed with Rare Earth records, using the name “Stoney” and began touring with Meatloaf as Stoney and Meatloaf. Shaun moved with Motown to LA, but later relocated back to Detroit to work with Bob Seger in 1973, (and continues to work with Bob Seger on his final tour.) Shaun performed in Hair and Sgt. Peppers rock musicals. on Broadway. She has done several tours with Eric Clapton, Bruce Hornsby, Moody Blues, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and many more. She became a member of the band Little Feat based in Los Angeles in 1994, touring and recording with the band until 2009.

Shaun has gone on to become an independent solo artist, recording her 9th solo CD, Reason To Try under Vision Wall Records. Recorded at Rock House Studios in Franklin, TN produced and mixed by Kevin McKendree (Delbert McClinton, Brian Setzer, etc). Using her long-time bandmates, Tom DelRossi, John Marcus, (Tim McGraw) Kenne Cramer, (Dr. Hook) Tommy Stillwell (Beat Daddy’s) and Eric Robert, (Coco Montoya & Walter Trout), saying, “I always want you to really hear what I’m going to sound like live, so what better way than to use my wonderful band!”

“This 14 track CD is a treasure trove of emotional ups and downs, blending a number of genres seamlessly. My friend Marc-Alan Barnette had written ‘Thang For You’ and when I heard him do it live, well, I couldn’t resist. The title track, ‘Reason To Try’ was one that I heard the writer do live; Danny Flowers, and it stopped me in my tracks. My great guitar players, Kenne Cramer and Tommy Stillwell wrote ‘Welcome To Bluesville’ for me. A song I hope you truly enjoy!”
