Tickets are on sale now for our annual star-studded Bender With HART Party, Wed. Sept 6th, to benefit the Handy Artists Relief Trust. (HARTfund) This event is only open to attendees of the Big Blues Bender. VIP is no longer available. Every penny collected will go directly to The Blues Foundation’s HART Fund. The Bender Celebrates The F.A.C.E of Women In Blues
The Bender is the first blues event anywhere in which women outnumber men in the attending audience. To celebrate this milestone, the Blues Bender hereby invites ALL Bender guests to explore The F.A.C.E. of Women in Blues 2017 panel led by Dr. Marie Trout. This panel will feature four remarkable artists: the winner of International Blues Challenge, Dawn Tyler Watson; singer, songwriter, and violinist Anne Harris; singer extraordinaire Teresa James; and blues-rock “force of nature” Sari Schorr.
Sidemen – Long Road To Glory, Private Screening
Friday, Sept 8th, 8pm-10pm & Sunday, Sept 10th, 12pm-2pm The Big Blues Bender invites you on a special trip into the heart of the Blues, a unique experience that will stay with you for a very long time. Director Scott Rosenbaum will be presenting a private screening and a Q & A for us of his acclaimed documentary, Sidemen – Long Road To Glory. Sidemen is an intimate look at the incredible lives and legacies of Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf sidemen Pinetop Perkins, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, and Hubert Sumlin. Sidemen takes us on the road with Pinetop, Willie and Hubert, three of our last direct links to the origins of the blues. We dare you not to fall in love with these three endearing men as we experience all the trials and triumphs of these remarkable lives. The film captures some of the last interviews and their final live performances together, before their deaths in 2011.
