Lone Star Blues & Heritage Festival

(GRAPELAND, TX) – Join us in Grapeland, Texas for a 3-day celebration of Texas Blues, at beautiful Salmon Lake Park Oct 25-27. From veteran artists to rising young stars, we’re throwing a blues party … East Texas style! Lineup includes Sue Foley, Benny Turner, Trudy Lynn, Keeshea Pratt Band, Peterson Brothers, Annika Chambers among others on two stages. Gates open 4pm on Friday and 10am Sat and Sun. Friday’s performances run 5pm-9:15, Saturday’s run 11:30am-11:30pm, and Sunday’s run 11am-3:35pm.

The piney woods of East Texas is rich with blues history of enduring legacy. Considered the Western-most region of the Deep South, it is the birthplace of artists including Blind Lemon Jefferson, Mance Lipscomb, T-Bone Walker and Lightnin’ Hopkins. Leadbelly, although born just over the state line in Louisiana, moved to East Texas at the age of 5.

A younger generation of legendary Texas bluesmen including Albert Collins and Freddie King also hail from East Texas. Today, Benny Turner carries that legacy, a living link to the blues he and big brother Freddie first heard from their mother and uncles on the back porch of their Gilmer, TX home.

Join us as we celebrate the history, legacy and the future of Texas blues at the inaugural Lone Star Blues & Heritage Festival.

“We are grateful to the Gulf Coast Blues Association, our non-profit festival partner. The mission of GCBA is to help promote metro Houston area musicians and venues, in addition to funding their “T-MuRF” (Texas Musicians Relief Fund) program. A portion of all beverage sales from the festival will be donated to this outstanding organization.” …Lone Star Blues & Heritage Festival
