National Women in Blues 1st Virtual WiB Showcase happening Feb 14, 2021

National Women in Blues (WiB) announces the 1st Virtual Women in Blues Showcase! While they’ll miss seeing everyone in Memphis, they’re pushing boundaries to share this opportunity to continue the mission to support, edify, promote and mentor Women in Blues! The Showcase will live-stream on February 14, 2021, 1pm PST, 3pm, CST, 4pm EST. They continue to support Generation Blues as their showcase charity. Donations may be made here

The host and featured artist is the fabulous Kat Riggins. Kat’s CD, Cry Out, was recently nominated for a Blues Music Award in the Contemporary Blues Album category. This year’s show will feature the indominable Lady A, Redd Velvet and Fiona Boyes and performances from the Women in Blues’ Artists in Residence: Rae Gordon, Brigitte Rios Purdy and Erica Brown. Be on the lookout for our international sisters – Canada’s Sunday Wilde and Debra Power, Croatia’s Marija Gasparic, Japan’s Nacomi Tanaka and our ladies from down under – Fiona Boyes, Anna Scionti, Chris Okunbor!

You’ll also hear the blues stylings of Elizabeth Hangan, Joanna Broh (with Sonny Hess and Kathryn Grim), Heather Statham (Thunder Gypsy), Gina Coleman (Misty Blues), Rachelle Coba, Arietta Ward, Veronika Jackson, Niecie, Cathy Grier, Deb Ryder, Cheryl Rinovato and Stevee Wellons (Soulful Femme), Spring Brooks, Rebecka Meldrum, Erin Harpe, Kerrie Lepai Jones, Casey Hensley, Whitney Shay, Johnie B & Iretta Sanders, Mylin Little (Royal & Toulouse), Kimberly Dill (Sister Lucille), Carly Harvey, Melanie Owen, Angela Easley, Ilana Katz Katz, Radka Kasparcova and a few surprise WiBs!

Redd Velvet will be closing out the show with her blues music historical journey. Redd was featured in the Smithsonian Magazines African American Arts and Culture edition, Sept 2016.

Many thanks to the Blues Foundation for helping WiB grow and to Endless Blues Records for their continued WiB sponsorship.
