Taj Mahal & the Phantom Blues Band
headline this year’s AimLoan.com San Diego Blues Festival to be held Sept. 7 on
the downtown San Diego waterfront.
They will be joined by acts such as
Larkin Poe, Eric Gales, Curtis Salgado, Black Market III, Whitney Shay, Chris
James & Patrick Rynn, The Sleepwalkers and World Famous Jim Gibson.
The festival runs noon to 8 p.m. at
scenic Embarcadero Marina Park North.
The annual festival is held as a
benefit for the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank. The food bank is
leading the region’s fight against hunger by providing meals to up to 370,000
people in need each month.
Through the first eight years of the
event, the festival and an accompanying food drive have raised $955,000 and 12
tons of food for the hungry.
A large number of San Diego’s needy
population are senior on fixed incomes as well as active military and their dependents
who require food assistance.
Past headliners at the event have
included Mavis Staples, Charlie Musselwhite, Tab Benoit, Bill Gibbons, Elvin
Bishop, Los Lobos and Eric Burdon & the Animals.
