Willie Dixon’s Blues Heaven Foundation was founded in 1982 by Chicago Blues great, Willie Dixon, to allow the echoes of great American Blues to continue to develop and encourage new generations of Blues musicians, and to provide for the ongoing welfare of senior Blues musicians. Today, the non-profit foundation continues to educate musicians, adults and children about the history of the Blues and the business of music, and to further the careers of musicians while enhancing their lives. The foundation’s scholarship programs are awarded to students for the study of music, African American Studies and Journalism, and other curriculums. Open to the public, the foundation is located at 2120 South Michigan Avenue in Chicago, the site of the world famous Chess Records studio, the legendary home of the Chicago Blues.
