No Comments Latest Blues News

BETHLEHEM, PA – For its fifth year, ArtsQuest’s Blast Furnace Blues festival has figured out what local blues lovers like. A great preview night of regional acts, headlined by Lehigh Valley guitar icon Craig Thatcher, kicks things off on Friday at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem.

Among the 18 national and regional acts will be a great guitarist — Coco Montoya, performing on Saturday.

Sunday kicks off with a rollicking blues brunch featuring Bev Conklin of BC Combo and ends with traditional blues from headliner, harmonica master Charlie Musselwhite.

And there’s something a bit different — dynamic funk-and-soul guitarist Robert Randolph, whom Rolling Stone magazine chose among the 100 Greatest of All Time and who has collaborated with guitar icons such as Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana. He headlines Saturday.

Other headliners include Royal Southern Brotherhood (with Cyril Neville, Saturday) and Johnny Winter All-Star Band, featuring former members of his band (Sunday).

For tickets, at $29 for Friday, $49 Saturday or Sunday and $95 all-festival, go to www.steelstacks.org or call 610-332-1300.
