Liz Mandeville’s Heart ‘O’ Chicago marks her triumphant return to the airwaves with a fresh new statement. 11 smokin’ new original songs feature some of Chicago’s finest talent, both seasoned pros and up and coming stars. This release includes two duets with vocalist, bandleader and Chicago Blues Challenge winner, Charlie Love, two songs featuring the harp of Grammy Nominee Billy Branch, two R&B rave ups featuring the legend Eddie Shaw on sax, the debut recording of Blues Harp Biker Dizzy Bolinski and eight flush tracks made richer by Joan Gand’s hands on the keyboards. Plus, there’s a full horn section led by hot, young, up and coming trumpet master. Wade Baker. Guitarist Minoru Maruyama is reunited here with former blues boss, Billy Branch. Arrangements and bass are by Darryl Wright who returns following his stellar contribution to Liz’s 2012s Blue Kitty Release, Clarksdale.
“For years now Liz Mandeville has been making compelling Chicago style blues records. Her song writing really sets her apart as her songs do what good blues songs should do, tell the truth, but her perspective and subject matter has kept her fresh and new. Her guitar playing is good and her vocals always strong and soulful. Now her new album brings it all together along with some very special special guests. Get into the Heart ‘O’ Chicago with Liz Mandeville.” Tom Marker WXRT/Blues Breakers
“She’s got another winner…soulfully-struttin’ vocal… Liz is a great talent, and she’s surrounded herself with some of Chicago’s finest!” Don Crow Nashville Blues Society/Bluesblog.
