(MARSEILLE, FR) – The particularity of European Blues Cruise is the meeting between tourism and blues. Indeed, we cover destinations all around the Mediterranean basin rocked by melodies of its own. From Sept 30-Oct 4, sail from Marseille, France, to Ibiza (a Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea off the eastern coast of Spain), Barcelona, Spain, and Genoa, Italy and back to Marseille. The cruise includes: Blues concerts on board + private sessions + grand opening night.
Our cruise is organized by the association Blues in Marseille, which aims to promote the blues in the city through various concerts. Through this festival of blues at sea, we highlight the city of Marseille, its tourist attractions and its cruise port.
Our event is organized thanks to partnerships with the travel agency Marseillaise Voyages Byblos and various cruise lines.
Since its creation in 2014, we offer new routes and artistic programs of quality to combine holidays and musical passion. From blues, rhythm and blues to soul to Delta blues, our artists accompanying you throughout the trip come mostly of the United States to offer you their voices and their stories.
Artists include Grammy winner, Sugar Blue, who was named Jimi Hendrix of the harmonica: he played and recorded with Prince, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Willie Dixon, Stan Getz, just to name a few. Sugar Blue and its band guarantee to produce a high-octane show that you will remember for a long time. International Blues Challenge Winner, the award-winning vocalist, harmonica and guitar player Kevin Burt mixing gravity and contagious humor with a voice and presence that are powerful. Uvee Hayes combines her classic blues style with an urban twist and captivating, deep lyrics. She has recorded more than nine albums, cassettes and CDs, with some of the world’s best musicians. Before becoming a bandleader, guitarist and accordion player Major Handy worked with Rockin ‘Dopsie for 12 years and also Buckwheat Zydeco. A multi-instrumentalist, he has boundless energy and talent, and his music is fun and full of surprises. The award-winning Jackie Scott is a singer, songwriter and producer is from Virginia. Music played an important role in worship and after 20 years of singing gospel, she felt a call to the Chicago-style blues.
